Hi! My name is Kara Henry. I’ve been scrapbooking for 10 years now, but I became completely obsessed after my first son, Xander, was born 6 years ago. I enjoy each aspect of scrapbooking, the design, the photography, the journaling and especially the supplies. I’m pretty sure I would be in the loony bin if I didn’t have scrapbooking as a creative outlet. I also love to quilt, sew clothes, make jewelry, design cakes and play the piano. Back in college, I studied English, photography and graphic design, but I still haven’t quite managed to get a degree! I hate to cook and love chocolate.
I’m married to David, a wonderful guy who totally gets my obsession with scrapbooking and is incredibly supportive. We met at BYU-Idaho at a mutual friend’s barbeque and it was nearly love at first sight. We were married 90 days from the day we met, a whirlwind romance that turned out marvelously. We have now been married for seven years and we have three boys, Xander, Maxton, and Griffin and one baby girl, Aubriana. We had them all within 4.5 years, which keeps me on my toes and laughing and also proves I’m a bit insane (I wasn’t kidding about that loony bin).
I grew up all over the country, including stops in Texas, NY, and Ohio, before returning to my birthplace, Utah, where I headed off to Idaho for school. We now live in Orem, UT and love it here. When he can coax me away from my scrap desk, David and I love to bike, rock-climb, and see movies, and sometimes I even talk him into doing his own scrapbook pages.
In the past, I’ve worked on the Keeping Memories Alive design team and the MoBe’ Stamp team. My cards, mini albums and pages have been published in Memory Makers, Legacy, Scrapbook Trends, Paper Trends, Cards and Creating Keepsakes. I was a finalist in the 2005 Memory Makers masters contest. I had a running column in Scrapbook Trends magazine for over three years and created my own idea book with them, Journaling Your Stories which came out in January ‘07. I am currently a member of the American Crafts local design team and my work regularly appears on HSN and QVC. Most of all, this is my third year with CreativExpress, a job I adore.
