So What Do YOU Think?!

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Creative Xpress is contemplating launching a fun new cyber-class every month centered around the hottest new product from Basic Grey. Each class would have a very reasonable, affordable fee attached (somewhere around $25) - and with that small fee, you would receive a kit with enough fantastic Basic Grey products to create at least 12 cards each month! AND you would receive full-color, step-by-step instructions for completing 8 cards in ‘class’ with directions for downloading a bonus instruction sheet from Basic Grey for completing the other 4 cards on your own.

Details of how the cyber-class would take place are still being worked on, but we wanted to ask you what you think. Would you be interested in a program such as this?

Let us know your thoughts or suggestions regarding this by simply posting a reply to this blog post!

Calling all Designers!

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

It is time again for the annual CX Design Team call. This is your opportunity to strut your stuff and hopefully land a place on our Design Team. This open call is the first step in our selection process.  Here is what we’re looking for in designers and how to submit your entries. Happy scrapping!

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for strong designers with a commitment and passion for designing; for designers who have the ability to create strong, solid projects with elements of creativity and originality. We are also looking for designers who are versatile - who can successfully design anything from a set of cards to an altered home decor item and everything in between. And, of course, we are looking for designers who want to have fun and work hard!

Unfortunately, due to the loss of the CX community, there will be significant changes to the purpose and direction of the Design Team for the 2009-2010 season. More specific details on those changes will be sent during the second step of the process. These changes, however, will have some great benefits for the designers, including more recognition and better exposure than in past years.

This coming year CX will only be contracting 12 designers  - so space will be limited. We will announce the 12 designers on the blog in August - we will also follow up with a personal email to designers selected - just to be sure they are notified.

How to Enter

If you are interested in trying out for the CreativeXpress Design Team, please send CX photographs of 3 projects that you feel demonstrate your creative ability, your design strength and your ability to execute a great project. Ask yourself ‘Does my project make my fingers itch to scraplift it?’ At this stage, your entry projects do NOT have to be newly created projects or projects created specifically for applying - you may use any projects you have designed. Also, in your entry email, include a paragraph or two about why you feel you would make a good addition to the team. What do you bring to the table that will help CX grow - in the blog and in the store?  Send your entries to kriss@creativexpress.com. Please put ‘DT Entry’ as the subject line of your email. Entries must be received by July 31, 2009, no later than 9:00 am MST.

Note: Everyone who would like to be on the team next year must submit an entry, including those who are members of the current CX Design Team.

CHALLENGE #1: Hard Work

Life is full of hard work. Where do you work the hardest? Is it at your job? Is it with your family? Why do you work so hard? What is your reward, your motivation or the outcome of your hard work? Create a layout that captures your interpretation of this prompt.

CHALLENGE #2: Like Clock Work

For most of us, there is at least one thing in our lives that never changes. What is the one constant in your life? What never changes? Never goes away? Do you appreciate this constant? Or is it a source of frustration? Create a layout that illustrates your take on this prompt.
