Summer Splash

kpinsonat_summersplash

I started my page by cutting the patterned paper into a sun shape using the Graphically Speaking cartridge and the “fit to page” function on the expression.  I adhered that to the red bling cardstock.  Next, I trimmed my photos and arranged them on the page.  I cut the word “summer” using the Hello Kitty cartridge at 1.25” and used Design Studio to weld the shadow together.  “Splash” was cut using the Wild Card cartridge set at 2” and welded in Design Studio.  That was glued down over a piece of the blue ribbon, and I added the buttons on the ends for a little extra embellishment.  The journaling tags are from the Tags, Bags, and Boxes cartridge set at 2”.  The water splash was hand drawn and had cut, and then covered with the Sugar Coating Glitter to give it some sparkle.

 Bless U Card

kpinsonat_blessucard

I started this card by covering my cardstock card with the patterned paper.  Next, I used Accent Essentials to cut the embossed cardstock into a square.  Then, also using Accent Essentials, I cut the scalloped square out of the green cardstock and used that to mat the pink square.  After these were glued to my card base, I cut the flowers using Plantin Schoolbook set at 1”, 1.5”, 2”, and 2.5”.  The centers of the flowers are the Doodlebug paper posies.  The sentiment is from the Wild Card cartridge and is cut at 6”.

Thank You Card

 kpinsonat_thankyoucard

The great shape for this card was cut using the Wild Card cartridge set at 6”.  The function I used was Doily Blackout.  I used the brown chalk to highlight the embossing on the cardstock, so the pattern would really stand out.  After adhering a strip of patterned paper in the center of the card, I cut the pink circle using the Coluzzle template.  The “thank you” is also from the Wild Card cartridge, and was cut at 1.25” Real Dial Size.  The brown shape that the sentiment is mounted on is from the Storybook cartridge and was set at 2.75” Real Dial Size.  The beautiful butterflies are found on the Graphically Speaking cartridge and were cut at 1.5” and 2”.  They were chalked with pink chalk to match the patterned paper.  The trio of eyelets and the brown ribbon were the finishing touches.

sackerman Hi there, my name is Stephanie aka Happyscraps and I am just so excited and honored to have been selected as part of the CX Design Team.

I have been married to Gary for 28 years and we have a 13 year old son about whom I scrap the most.  I have been scrapping for as long as I remember, but in those days “archival safe” products did not exist - we simply used construction paper and glue!!!!  Scrapping and card making has come a very long way and I am just so excited to be apart of this awesome craft and watch its evolution.

My scrapbooking style has changed over the years.  I consider my style as evolving - I adapt it to what I am working on at the moment.  I love the creative process and enjoy creating everything from cards to layouts to altered projects to home decor.  My layouts can be any combination of lumpy, shabby, eclectic, simple - it just depends on the photos and what I want to convey.

I have been a part of CX since the beginning and am am just so excited to be a part of the DT.  I am so looking forward to a wonderfully exciting year here at CX.

Stacy Armstrong

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

stacy Hello!  I’m Stacy Armstrong.  I live on the beautiful coast of  Georgia.  I married my high school sweet heart, Mark, 18 years ago. Since then, our little family has grown to include two cute and rambunctious kids and a Jack Russell terrier. Lucky for me, they’re very supportive of my hobby.

I jokingly tell people that I craft because, “its cheaper than therapy”, but if you’ve seen my little scrap studio you’ll know that’s a flat out lie…..there’s no way its cheaper.
My favorite scrapbooking tool is the Cricut Expression! I have Expression Obsession Fever!  I love to use it for scrapbooking, crafts, school projects and home decor.  It’s just amazing what this little machine can do.

My style is much like a warm chocolate cake: Grand and traditional, simple but sophisticated, and full of down home goodness. lol!!

Nikki Hobbs

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

nikkiHi,I am Nikki. I am a 29 years old, for the most part SAHM. I have three amazing children, Austin-7, Aidan-5 and Adriana Isabella who is 1. I have been married for almost 8 years now, to the love of my life, Dustin. We were both born and raised here in California but a couple years back moved to Idaho to try some place different and to be close to his father who lives there, we ended up moving back to CA last summer. Although Idaho was nice we missed all our family here and of course what anyone born and raised in California would miss….the BEACH! lol.

I have always been some what of a scrapbooker, I remember taking my camera to school all the time in grade school and up, and I always added my pictures to albums. I started “layout” scrapbooking in 2000 when I was pregnant with my first son. My mother in law agreed to let her sister in law have a CM party at her house, where we both learned about CM style scrapbooking. I loved it and was hooked. Shortly after I got my first scrapbooking magazine which had some AD’s for scrapbooking sites, I was hooked and never looked back.

My scrapbooking style has come along way since that first encounter with CM products and scrapbooking “layout” style. I love so many different things, lumpy, bumpy, shabby chic, clean and simple, bright and color POP. My style really just depends on how I am feeling at the time I sit down to work on something. One thing I love about my layouts and scrapbooking it’s self is journaling, you will find that about 95% of my layouts, have some kind of journaling on it.

I love reading the posts and looking through the gallery here at CX. This community of amazing women (and men lol)really is the best online. I am so honored to be apart of this amazing team of ladies for the second year now and such a friendly community of people on the MB.

Meridith Watson

meredithHi!  I’m Meridith, aka CouchDiva.  The name comes from being really good at sitting on my fanny. :)

I started scrapping when my oldest (now 15) was just 3.  I was introduced to scrapbooking at a Creative Memories party and was just amazed that you could do all those things with your photos! (All those things was cutting photos into shapes and decorating cardstock with die cuts and sticker sneeze.)

Since then, scrapbooking has become an obsession of mine, so much so that after I spend 8 hours teaching at a pre-school, I sometimes go spend 4 more hours working at the local scrapbook store.  I have enough in my stash to open a store of my own, and still break out in hives when I have to cut into my pretty paper!

My style is bold, bright, and colorful.  No pastels or shabby chic for me!  Most of my pages are fairly clean, but I’ve been enjoying experimenting with different ways to embellish them.

I am so excited for this opportunity to design for Creative Express…I have been here since the very beginning and just love the community and the great talent in the gallery.  CX is my favorite place on the web!

Melanie Douthit

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

melanieHi! I’m Melanie and I live in Northeast Louisiana with my husband Jeff and 2 children, who have been very patient and supportive of my passion (not to mention enduring tons of photo shoots).  I was introduced to scrapbooking in 2003. Well, here I am over five years later totally hooked. I’ve always done something either in art (painting) or in crafts (sewing, cross-stitching, etc), so getting involved in papercrafting seemed normal.  I love taking photos of my family and love scrapbooking because I can do my creative thing with the photos and paper.

I’ve been fortunate to have had projects published in a variety of scrapbook and paper craft magazines including Papercrafts, Cards, Paper Trends, Scrapbook Trends and Memory Makers. I’ve made so many friends across the country and abroad through this wonderful hobby. I’m happy to be a part of this talented team at Creative Xpress.

megan Hello there! I am Megan - a SAHM and big time card making and scrapbooking maniac. My favorite lil’ friends are my stamps and my pet Cricut Expression (affectionately called “Bugzilla”).You’ll frequently find me hanging about in one of my very favorite places- the CX forum.I run best on liberal doses of coffee, diet Dr. Pepper, and chocolate. When I am not busy in my stamp/scrap cave, I am out in the garden, reading, cooking/baking, and taking care of my two guys- DH Larry and  high schooler son Ian.(Or cleaning up after my 2 big dogs and 3 cats!)

I have been stamping and scrapbooking for almost 10 years now. I have learned so much and grown exponentially. I have met so many incredible friends through this hobby/passion. It has truly blessed my life. CX has been a daily part of my life for the past 3 years and to now be on the CX Design Team is  really just a dream come true for me.Thank you CX-I am looking forwards to a FANTASTIC year!

Laura Mendoza

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

laura Hi! My name is Laura Mendoza. I live in Utah with my husband of 9 years and my two young sons.
My oldest son, Boston is 5 and our baby, Quinton, is a year old.
A little bit about my scrapbooking obsession…I began scrapbooking in high school and like everyone else, have books with pictures of old boyfriends and high school dances.
However, it wasn’t until my oldest son was born almost 6 years ago that I became completely taken with the paper crafting hobby and I haven’t looked back yet.
It usually doesn’t take much to get me started. I get energized when I see a great photo or get my hands on some fabulous new product. I am constantly inspired by my day-to-day routine, the joy when my children laugh, the memories my mother shares, the flowers I planted last fall. It all has meaning and I’m happiest when I can capture  it.
I seem to be on a quest to get my life in a 12 x 12 book and I’m always happy when someone appreciates something I’ve created along the way.
