Introduction:

With Valentine’s Day soon approaching, I wanted to make some gifts to share.  I have wanted to alter these bottles for quite a while and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.  I thought the Love Struck cartridge would work wonderfully with this project.

Instructions:

The first thing that should be done when starting this project is to spray paint the carton and jar lids.  I had originally tried to paint these using a brush.  I was just not able to get good coverage with this method.  I really recommend spray painting these items:  it is much quicker and gives a better coverage.

Carton:  After the carton has totally dried, cut four 4 ½ x 3 ½ pieces of patterned paper.  Ink the edges of these pieces and then adhere them to the sides of the carton.  Cut two 1 ½ x 12 strips of a different patterned paper and ink the edges.  Add these strips to two 2 x 12 strips of brown paper.  Start at the center of the front of the carton and wrap these strips all the way around.  Keep the seams in the middle of the front and back.  Don’t worry about these seams; they will be covered by the large hearts.  Cut two triangles out of cardstock.  Ink the edges of these and draw white stitches around the edges.  Place these on the sides of the carton.  Cut the hearts and their background from the Love Struck cartridge; use Design Studio to do this.  Stretch the heart to a length of 3 ½ inches and the background should be stretched to 4 inches.  After you have cut these out, place white dots on random hearts.  This will help them stand out and be more visually interesting.  Ink the edges of the background heart and attach these together.  Adhere these to the center of the carton using foam squares.  To cover the handle of the carton, cut two 4 ½ x 2 pieces of patterned paper and round two of the corners.  Next, ink the edges.  To get the correct shape of the opening, place the paper against the handle and trace it.  Cut it out and adhere it to the carton.  Tie ribbon around this and you are done with the carton.

Bottles:  Cut four heart borders using the Love Struck cartridge.  With Design Studio, stretch these to a length of 8 inches.  After you have cut these out, place white dots on all the centers of the solid hearts.  Wrap around the neck of the bottles.  (I tried placing these lower on the bottle but found that they were totally covered by the carton.  I felt that they had lost some of the charm I intended.)  Getting these to adhere to the bottle was a bit tricky.  I found that the adhesive that worked best was the little glue dots.

Lids:  Cut four 1 ½ inch patterned paper circles and 4 1 inch cardstock circles with the Home Accents cartridge.  Ink the edges of both types of circles.  Use a white pen to draw stitches around the edge of the cardstock circles.  Adhere these to the lids.
